Approaches to Group Therapy for Addiction
Group therapy of clients with substance addiction begins with the development of a plan for the therapeutic approach that will be most appropriate for the entire group. The therapist should be aware that not all theories work for all clients in the group and should be flexible. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate therapy session videos by identifying the therapeutic approach, discuss if this approach would be utilized in personal practice and to identify an alternative approach for the treatment of clients with addictions.
